Job description

The Estimator position will work within our NAVAID’s division. This is a tremendous opportunity for an experienced Airfield System or NAVAIDs professional. A strong and proficient understanding of airfields and their navigational aid systems ideal. Previous experience working in aircraft guidance systems including, but not limited to lights, beacons, signals, markers, DME’s, VOR’s, PAPI’s and VASIS is a plus. The Estimator will work within our NAVAIDs department, and the role will include (but not be limited to) project inclusion preparation and bid proposals, estimating and helping collaborate in working on current projects at hand along with helping in preparation and acquisition of new projects. The ideal candidate will have experience estimating navigation focused airfield projects and a strong, experienced skillset to bring to our NAVAIDs division.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Estimate Preparation: Develop detailed and accurate cost estimates for Airfield Systems/NAVAIDS electrical and construction projects, ensuring all aspects of the project are covered. Review and validate subcontractor and supplier quotes.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other team members to gather necessary information and ensure estimates reflect the full scope of the project.
  • Software Utilization: Utilize industry-standard estimating software such as Procore, Autodesk, Acubid, McCormick, EBI, and Esticom to create precise and reliable estimates.
  • Team Leadership: Communicate transparently with division leaders to potentially oversee and manage RFPs, other proposal documents, and bid analysis to ensure thorough and competitive project submissions.
  • Airfield Systems (Optional): Provide specialized expertise in estimating airfield systems projects, if applicable.
  • Continuous Process Improvement: Stay updated with industry trends and best practices to continuously improve the estimating process.
Key Characteristics of the Estimator: Airfield Systems/NAVAIDS
  • Airfield Systems Experience on site and a solid understanding of this environment
  • Estimating experience focused on airfield projects and/or NAVAIDs
  • Approach lighting system familiarity and understanding thereof
  • Proficiency and understanding of Precision Approach Path Indicators (PAPI)
  • Familiarity with Very high frequency (VHF) omni-directional range, or VORs
  • Possible former roles as an Airfield Systems superintendent, lead or airfield electrician
  • Ability to use a Smart Phone/Tablet, willingness to work safely and ensure colleagues do the same

  • Preferred Licenses/Certifications: OSHA Training, Driver’s License
  • Electrical construction background (field or estimating)
  • 3-5 Years of experience in electrical estimating, electrical project engineering or electrical field supervision
  • Direct experience with airfield electrical systems (airfield lighting, approach lighting systems, runway/taxiway edge lights, Signs and Guidance Signs, PAPI/VASI and FAA NAVAIDS)
