Job summary

SMART IT People has a full-time opportunity for an Installation Estimator in Raleigh, NC. The role analyzes the scope of proposed HVAC projects to create detailed cost estimates and drive bid submissions.

The Installation Estimator will attend weekly ops meetings, gather quotes, and collaborate with vendors and the installation team to ensure accurate pricing and timely turnover of projects.

Qualifications

• 3+ years HVAC estimating experience (Commercial preferred).
• Experience using estimating software (BuildOps).
• Strong communication with vendors and trades.
• Valid driver's license and clean record.

Responsibilities

• Review and evaluate plan and spec drawings to determine scope of work.
• Perform bid job site visits, as needed.
• Request and gather vendor quotes for material, equipment and subcontractors.
• Determine equipment, material and labor needs for project.
• Confirm pricing received reflects the correct scope of work.
• Review and ensure all bids are priced correctly by subcontractors and vendors.
• Prepare detailed, accurate estimates by calculating equipment, material, and labor needs.
• Submit bid proposals and budgets by the deadline.
• Consistently follow up on bids to close business.
• Coordinate budgeting and strategic goals with management.

Job description

SMART IT People has a full-time opportunity for an Installation estimator with a reputable Commercial HVAC company in Raleigh, NC. The Installation Estimator will analyze the scope of proposed HVAC projects to create a detailed estimate of the project's cost.

Must have skills:

• 3+ years HVAC estimating experience (Commercial preferred) - bid quoting, job turnover, close out documents and change orders.
• Experience utilizing estimating software (BuildOps preferred)
• Strong communicator - able to successfully work with all personality types and ability to get your point across.
• Experience working with vendors and construction people,
• Clear background, drug and driving record
• Flexible to go to job sites as needed
• Attend weekly Ops Meeting to review Priority Report for current, ongoing, and new installation jobs.
• Document and follow up on assigned action items and decisions from meetings.
• Equipment follow up with distributors, for Bid jobs or other jobs as assigned.
• Bid Quoting

o Review and evaluate plan and spec drawings to determine scope of work.

whether from internal departments or an external supplier.

o Determine equipment, material and labor needs for project.

o Confirm pricing received reflects the correct scope of work.

o Review and ensure all bids are priced correctly by subcontractors and vendors.

o Prepare detailed, accurate, professional estimates by calculating equipment, material, and

labor needs for project.

o Submit bid proposals and budgets by the deadline.

o Consistently follow up on submitted bids to close business.

o Work closely with management to determine budgeting and strategic goals for estimating and business development opportunities.

o Keep accurate database of prospective projects.

• Job Turnover

o Meet with Lead Mechanic to turn over awarded jobs.

o Provide turnover sheet.

o Create job in Field Edge.

o Ensure job is added to schedule.

o Verify quoted amounts for subs, materials are still valid.

• Close Out Documents

o Provide Job Submittal package and close out documents to customers, as needed.

o Save copies of close out package to Bid drive.

o Assist in the warranty process of any HVAC parts that we have installed.

• Change Orders

o Receive all change orders for Bid Jobs from install team.

o Work with install team regarding pricing.

o Receive verification from salesperson regarding items and final pricing for the change order.

o Once pricing has been determined and verified, enter into Field Edge.

o Notify AR/AP Specialists via email to bill change order.

• Once Bid jobs or assigned jobs are complete notify Accounting to bill customer.
• Establish and maintain relationships with vendors and contractors.
• Attend and assist with meetings and meeting minutes as needed.
• Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and standards and procedures, complying with OSHA regulations.
