Job summary

Cranshaw Construction is seeking an Estimator to join our pre-construction team. You will develop accurate construction estimates across all design phases using 2D/3D takeoff tools and collaborate with project teams, clients, consultants, and trade partners to evaluate costs and support informed decisions.

We value strong Excel and estimating software experience, with a track record of delivering high-quality, detailed estimates on diverse project types.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field preferred.
  • 5–10 years of experience in estimating.
  • Proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with Sage Estimating, Construct Connect Takeoff, Assemble Systems, Revit, and Procore.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; able to manage multiple estimates and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed cost estimates across all design phases.
  • Perform quantity take-offs and pricing analysis.
  • Manage subcontractor bid solicitation and subcontractor coverage.
  • Develop qualifications, clarifications, assumptions and scope narratives for estimates.
  • Participate in proposals, client presentations, and interviews.
  • Identify value engineering opportunities to optimize cost and constructability.
  • Analyze cost alternatives for building systems, materials, and methods.
  • Prepare cost comparisons and reconcile estimates with budgets and data.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, clients, consultants, and subs to support outcomes.
  • Contribute to estimating best practices and historical cost data.

Job description

Cranshaw is seeking an Estimator to join our team of dedicated pre-construction professionals. In this role, you will be responsible for developing accurate and comprehensive construction estimates across all phases of design for a diverse range of project types. Utilizing advanced 2D and 3D takeoff and estimating technologies, you will collaborate with project teams, clients, consultants, and trade partners to evaluate costs, identify opportunities, and support informed project decisions. Primary Responsibilities
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of project scope, requirements, and risks through detailed review and analysis of project plans, specifications, and supporting documentation.
  • Prepare and develop detailed cost estimates throughout various phases of design and preconstruction.
  • Perform quantity take-offs, material quantification, and pricing analysis with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Manage the subcontractor bid solicitation process, proactively cultivate bidder interest, and ensure adequate subcontractor coverage for assigned scopes.
  • Develop comprehensive qualifications, clarifications, assumptions and scope narratives for assigned estimates and bid packages.
  • Participate in business development efforts, including proposal preparation, client presentations, and interview processes.
  • Identify, evaluate and recommend value engineering opportunities that enhance project value, constructability and cost efficiency.
  • Perform detailed cost analysis for alternative building systems, materials, and construction methodologies to support informed project decisions.
  • Prepare cost comparisons, analyze estimate variances, and reconcile estimates against previous budgets, historical data, and project benchmarks.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams, clients, consultants, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders to support successful project outcomes.
  • Contribute to estimating best practices, process improvements, and the development of accurate historical cost information.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field is preferred.
  • 5-10 years of experience in estimating.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing estimating and take-off software such as Sage Estimating, Construct Connect Takeoff, Assemble Systems, Revit, Procore.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to effectively manage multiple estimates, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with limited oversight while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams and project stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to identify project risks, inconsistencies, and scope gaps, and proactively develop solutions to mitigate potential impacts.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate alternatives and make sound estimating recommendations.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement, process optimization, and enhancing estimating accuracy and efficiency.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high quality, accurate work.

The salary range for this position is $90,000 – $140,000. Compensation is part of a comprehensive total rewards package, including bonus and final offers will be determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience.
