Job summary

Landis Construction LLC is seeking an estimator to perform quantity takeoffs and develop detailed estimates in alignment with our long‑term goals. The role requires collaboration with architects, engineers, and subs to ensure accurate pricing throughout the bid process.

Responsibilities include evaluating bid documents, supporting design phase cost input, and participating in value engineering while maintaining high standards of quality and timeliness in a standard office environment.

Qualifications

• Fundamental construction knowledge required.
• Experience with estimating and bid development preferred.
• Strong understanding of construction documents and specs desired.

Responsibilities

• Check bid documents for inconsistencies and clarify with architect/engineer.
• Coordinate with subs and vendors to develop a rapport for accurate pricing.
• Prepare bid packages to facilitate pricing and delivery.
• Participate in bid strategy and ensure subcontractor coverage.
• Manage project cost input during design phase and support value engineering.

• Perform quantity takeoffs and create detail estimate and pricing
• Check bid documents for inconsistencies and clarify with architect/engineer
• Develop a thorough understanding of appropriate specification sections
• Coordinate with appropriate subcontractors and vendors and develop a rapport
• Prepare bid packages to facilitate pricing
• Make site visits, including photographic surveys; coordinate visits with key subs
• Create and maintain scope spreadsheets for proper buyout
• Receive, evaluate, and compare sub/supplier pricing
• Participate in bid strategy
• Ensure adequate subcontractor coverage
• Project Management during design phase of a project’s life cycle, including but not limited to communication with owner, attending meetings with design team, providing cost input during the design phase, leading value engineering efforts, coordinating possible changes with subs and understanding cost changes associated with scop changed.

Work Environment

This position works in a standard office environment. This job will also require transportation and driving to various jobsites as needed to complete role responsibilities

• Must have the ability to see and read on computer screens, contracts, and other documentation with accuracy to ensure clear interpretation and attention to detail.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and stand for extended periods, walk, use hands and arms, talk, hear, bend, stretch, reach, kneel, squat, climb, and view a computer monitor while sitting or standing forextended periods. This position utilizes endurance and the ability to walk outdoors for extended periods, including stairs and elevated structures and scaffolding.

Work Hours:

Normal “working hours” anticipated are Monday through Friday 8:00AM-5:00Pm. However, it is expected that this position may need to be available by phone, e‑mail, and/or for virtual meeting participation after hours and/or before, during, and after any critical after‑hour project functions and work activities.

Limited as required
