Qualifications

JOB DESCRIPTION

Interior Channel is hiring a Project Estimator to serve as the critical link between inbound customer inquiries and signed contracts. This role owns the front end of our revenue cycle, from initial quote review through customer inspection, scope development, estimate creation, and estimate submission.

The ideal candidate combines field knowledge with sales acumen. You need to be comfortable in a basement or crawl space diagnosing a structural problem just as easily as you are sitting across from a homeowner explaining a $15,000 repair scope. Accuracy, professionalism, and follow-through are the defining traits of this position.

This is a high-impact role in a growing company. The Estimator's ability to win business at the proper margin is one of the single largest drivers of Interior Channel's growth trajectory.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Inquiry Review & Scheduling

• Review all inbound customer quote requests and assess scope, complexity, and viability before scheduling
• Coordinate with the Office Administrator to schedule site inspections at a time that works for the customer
• Maintain a well-organized inspection schedule and manage time efficiently across multiple active leads

Site Inspections

• Drive to customer properties throughout the Fort Wayne area and surrounding region to conduct thorough on-site inspections
• Assess foundation conditions, waterproofing needs, structural issues, drainage concerns, and any other relevant site conditions
• Document findings with photos, measurements, and written notes.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with homeowners and property owners during inspections. Set expectations, answer questions, and represent Interior Channel with integrity

Scope Development & Estimating

• Develop detailed, accurate scopes of work based on inspection findings, specifying systems, materials, labor, and sequencing.
• Build project estimates using Interior Channel's pricing framework, margin targets, and current material costs
• Review completed estimates with ownership prior to customer submission

Customer Submission & Follow-Up

• Submit finalized estimates to customers promptly following the ownership review, same day or next business day as standard
• Professionally handle customer questions, objections, and negotiations — elevate to ownership when needed
• Maintain accurate records of all estimates, follow-up activity, and outcomes in the tracking system

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

• 5+ years of experience in construction estimating, sales, or a related field.
• Ability to read and interpret structural conditions in the field. Comfortable in basements, crawl spaces, and around foundation systems
• Strong written and verbal communication skills. Able to explain technical scopes clearly to non-technical customers
• Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple active estimates and inspections simultaneously
• Self-motivated and capable of working independently in the field without daily supervision
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation - significant local travel required
• Proficient in standard office software; comfortable learning estimating and CRM tools

Preferred

• Direct experience in basement waterproofing, foundation repair, or structural home services
• Experience developing line-item scopes of work and job cost estimates
• Demonstrated sales performance - track record of converting inspections to signed contracts
• Knowledge of Fort Wayne and Allen County market, permitting requirements, and building codes
