Job summary

The Ravin Group in Indianapolis seeks a Commercial Construction Estimator with extensive experience on ground-up projects exceeding $10M. You will review plans, prepare budgets and bid documents, and coordinate subcontractor bids while maintaining project information flow.

Successful candidates will manage multiple estimates, read blueprints, and use advanced estimating tools. In-person work in central Indiana is required, with a focus on collaboration and client relationships.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of estimating experience on commercial ground-up projects in excess of $10M
• Must be able to read and comprehend blueprints and shop drawings
• Strong computer skills including estimating software, Word, Excel, Outlook, PlanSwift, Destini, ISQFT, bid management

Responsibilities

• Reviews project plans, specifications, estimating scopes and pricing.
• Prepares budget and general conditions estimates for entire project prior to bid date and reviews budgets and general conditions.
• Ensures the flow of project information is maintained and documented.
• Prepares and reviews all bid and/or estimate forms for submissions.
• Assists in developing subcontractor solicitation strategies, analyzing subcontractor bids and documenting subcontractor prequalification prior to bid date.
• Assists in coordinating insurance requirements as needed.
• Compiles pre-bid questions for submission to the owner.
• Informs staff of project requirements and owner directives, and assists in development of plans to meet stated goals.
• Attends project site pre-bid meetings and site tours.
• Reviews schedule and constructability issues with project operations staff.
• Organizes coordination meetings.
• Prepares project clarifications and bid assumptions for submission to owners.
• Builds effective relationships with customers, design team, subcontractors, suppliers, and user groups aligning with company values and customer expectations.

Commercial Construction Estimator

An Indianapolis construction firm is seeking a commercial construction Estimator to join their growing team. This position requires commercial construction experience on projects ranging from $10M and up.

Commercial Construction Estimator Responsibilities

• Reviews project plans, specifications, estimating scopes and pricing.
• Prepares budget and general conditions estimates for entire project prior to bid date and reviews budgets and general conditions.
• Ensures the flow of project information is maintained and documented.
• Prepares and reviews all bid and/or estimate forms for submissions.
• Assists in developing subcontractor solicitation strategies, analyzing subcontractor bids and documenting subcontractor prequalification prior to bid date.
• Assists in coordinating insurance requirements as needed.
• Compiles pre-bid questions for submission to the owner.
• Informs staff of project requirements and owner directives, and assists in development of plans to meet stated goals.

• Proficient in computer software programs used in preconstruction with particular emphasis on estimating software.
• Prepares and presents budget presentations to owners and architects.
• Builds effective relationships with customers, design team, subcontractors, suppliers, and user groups that reflect and support the company core values and meets or exceeds the customer's expectations.

Commercial Construction Estimator Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related degree preferred
• 5+ years of estimating experience on commercial ground-up projects in excess of $10M
• Must be able to manage multiple estimating projects, create and maintain project budgets, prioritize effectively, and recognize and address work related issues as they occur.
• Must be able to read and comprehend blueprints and shop drawings.
• Must have strong computer skills, including the ability to use estimating software, Word, Excel, Outlook, Destini, PlanSwift, I sqft, bid management, online plan rooms, and database applications.
