Job summary

Waypoint Contracting, Inc. is seeking a Construction Estimator to prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial and/or residential projects.

This role analyzes plans/specifications, collaborates with subcontractors and suppliers, and supports project teams through bidding and preconstruction phases. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of estimating experience, strong analytical skills, and proficiency with PlanSwift, Bluebeam, and similar estimating tools.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of estimating experience in commercial and/or residential construction.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
• Proficiency in estimating software (PlanSwift, Bluebeam, Bid Management, Planhub or similar).
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building codes.
• Strong analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Review project drawings, specifications, and related documents to determine scope of work
• Assist in preparing detailed project cost estimates and bid proposals
• Assist in subcontractor prequalification processes
• Develop and maintain qualified subcontractor bid invitation lists
• Solicit, obtain, and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids
• Perform quantity take-offs and obtain material pricing
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options
• Participate in pre-proposal meetings and prepare RFIs
• Evaluate project plans and specifications for constructability
• Help prepare, organize, and coordinate Request for Proposal (RFP) documents
• Maintain historical cost data and perform document archiving
• Communicate regularly with management, subcontractors, clients, and internal teams
• Attend site visits and pre-bid meetings -as required
