Job summary

The successful candidate will price accurately by understanding execution: production rates, crew build-ups, equipment spreads, sequencing, and field constraints, and will work closely with subcontractors, suppliers, and the Project Management team to win bids.

Qualifications

• Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
• 3–5 years of construction estimating experience.
• Ability to read construction drawings and understand civil construction methods.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and Bluebeam.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed digital quantity takeoffs for civil and infrastructure work.
• Develop and assemble complete bid proposals and cost estimates.
• Prepare scope sheets and ensure bid accuracy and compliance.

• Track bid coverage and clarify scope inclusions and exclusions.
• Research new Heavy Highway and civil bid opportunities.
• Support handoff of awarded projects to the Project Manager.

Estimator

Heavy Highway, Bridge, and Underground Utility Construction

We're hiring an Estimator to lead estimating efforts for Heavy Highway projects, Bridge Reconstruction, and Underground Utility construction — developing competitive bid packages, analyzing costs, and working closely with subcontractors and suppliers.

Position Overview

The Estimator will support project pursuit from initial opportunity review through final bid submission, leading estimating efforts for Heavy Highway, Bridge Reconstruction, and Underground Utility work.

The right candidate understands that accurate pricing starts with understanding execution — production rates, crew build-ups, equipment spreads, sequencing, and field constraints.

You will work closely with subcontractors, suppliers, and the Project Management team to develop and win competitive bids.

Key Responsibilities

Estimating & Bid Preparation

• Review construction plans and specifications to determine project scope
• Perform detailed digital quantity takeoffs for civil and infrastructure work
• Develop and assemble complete bid proposals and cost estimates
• Prepare scope sheets and ensure bid accuracy and compliance

Subcontractor & Supplier Solicitation

• Solicit, compare, and level subcontractor and supplier pricing
• Track bid coverage and clarify scope inclusions and exclusions

Opportunity Development & Handoff

• Research new Heavy Highway and civil construction bid opportunities
• Support smooth handoff of awarded projects to the Project Manager

Qualifications

Required

• Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field
• 3–5 years of Construction Estimating experience
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, proficiency with Microsoft 365 and Bluebeam
• Ability to read construction drawings and understand civil construction methods

Preferred

• ODOT or PennDOT bid experience
• Field experience in heavy civil or highway construction
