Job summary

Prime Group is seeking an Estimator to support the Director of Preconstruction on commercial and residential projects in Los Angeles. You will perform takeoffs, prepare accurate estimates, manage vendor and consultant contracts, and help keep the preconstruction process from takeoff to turnover.

You will review drawings, specs, change orders, and contracts; generate forecasts and reports; assist in contract administration, design consultant bidding, and permit coordination.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a construction-related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of related experience and/or training.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction documentation, including project plans, specifications, addenda, reports, and contracts.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate estimates by conducting comprehensive takeoffs of the scope of work.
  • Complete construction estimates for assigned commercial and residential projects.
  • Review proposal specifications, change orders, drawings, and contracts.
  • Generate forecasts and reports for upper management.
  • Assist in contract administration by preparing contract documents and templates.

Prime Group is looking for an Estimator to support the Director of Preconstruction — preparing accurate estimates, managing vendor and consultant contracts, and keeping our preconstruction process running smoothly from takeoff to turnover.Job SummaryThe Estimator is responsible for supporting the Director of Preconstruction, ensuring efficient vendor communication, contract management, and bid follow-up. The Estimator contributes to project estimation and preconstruction activities across commercial and residential projects.What You'll DoIncluding but not limited to:Prepare accurate estimates by conducting comprehensive takeoffs of the scope of workComplete construction estimates for assigned commercial and residential projectsDetermine labor, material, and time requirements for commercial and residential projectsReview proposal specifications, change orders, drawings, and contractsGenerate reliable and relevant forecastsCreate and present reports to upper managementAssist in maintaining a contract tracking log on a daily basisSupport contract administration by preparing contract documents and templatesEnter data and vendor information into SmartBid and Project CenterCoordinate blueprint ordersExecute special projects as assigned by the purchasing department and contract administratorProcess and review all Design Consultant plans for construction projectsEstablish and update plan logs to track project design changes and revisions, ensuring accurate plan distribution by inserting new sheets into the original set of plansUpload, organize, and maintain construction-related documents in AutoDeskMaintain construction documents and records in an organized, up-to-date, and easily accessible formatAdd new users, including employees and subcontractors, in the Sage softwareUpload plan revisions in AutoDesk and the organization's shared driveUpload original drawings, revisions, and other construction documents such as specs and shop drawings into AutoDesk and the organization's shared drivePrepare all Construction Turnover Forms for Residential and Hotel projects, covering both interior and exterior aspects of the buildingsManage project requests in the Wrike platformAssist in the construction permitting process, including supporting the Permit Coordinator with building permits, USPS approvals, FAA approvals, address designations, and trailer permitsTravel to local Building Departments as needed for the permitting process, including filing applications for permitsHelp develop consultant budgets using historical data from previous projects and benchmarking proposals received from external design consulting firmsCreate permit and impact fee budgets, including reviewing permit and impact fee schedules from the building authority or municipality where the project is located, and utilizing historical data from similar projects in the same locationConduct budget uploads for organizational projects and make adjustments to the budget proforma in case of budget increasesEnter preconstruction and entitlement commitments when change orders are executedManage the design consultant bidding process, from requesting proposals to awarding the design contractComplete scopes of work, schedule of values, and contract preparation for design consultantsProvide contract administration for all consultant contractsProcess change orders for project consultants when there are design changesCreate Notices of Commencement for the organizationCoordinate all utility connections for new projects, such as FPL,
