Job summary

Commercial Metals Company is seeking an estimator to prepare estimates, bid schedules and takeoffs, and to manage preliminary scope letters and documents to meet bid schedules.

You will assist with detailing, fabrication, and field problems, and coordinate the bid process with the Responsible Salesman while ensuring outstanding service across calls, meetings, and job sites. Strong math, planning, and communication skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

  • Strong mathematical skills and technical writing ability.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time.
  • Ability to interact and communicate with coworkers, company leaders, and customers positively.
  • Follow directions and work rules and accept constructive feedback.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction plans.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel; PDF tools like Adobe/Bluebeam.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares estimate, bid schedules and takeoff while preparing and sending preliminary scope letters, bid forms and documents to meet bid schedules.
  • Assists with the research of detailing, fabrication, and field problems.
  • Responsible for the Bid Process and Coordinating with Responsible Salesman.
  • Responsible for making sure outstanding service is taking place and all efforts are taken to satisfy customer needs at all levels, phone calls, meetings, and job sites.
  • Maintains accurate records and documentation for each job and a desirable work area.

Your Education
