Job summary

Commercial Metals in Jessup, MD is seeking a Customer Order Specialist to manage the complete order lifecycle from intake to invoicing. You will gather requirements, schedule and track progress, and respond promptly to inquiries while coordinating across departments to ensure timely delivery.

The role requires strong organizational skills, experience with ERP and MS Office, and the ability to read civil plans. A team-oriented mindset and manufacturing or construction background are preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; additional education preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in customer service, project management, or construction site development.

Responsibilities

  • Manage full order process from intake to delivery and invoicing.
  • Gather order requirements, schedule orders, monitor progress.
  • Respond to customer inquiries promptly and professionally.
  • Verify pricing, manage change orders and updates.
  • Follow up on submittals to ensure timely approval.
  • Collaborate across departments for on-time product delivery.
  • Coordinate field support visits and resolve issues.
  • Maintain records in ERP and internal systems.
  • Attend team meetings and assist departmental support.

What You'll Do
  • Manage the full order process from intake through delivery and invoicing

What You'll Need
  • Strong ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
  • Clear, professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP systems (Titan or similar preferred)
  • Ability to read and interpret civil engineering plans and production drawings
  • Working knowledge of CP&P products and their applications preferred
  • Team-oriented mindset with ability to work independently
Your Education
  • High school diploma or GED required; additional education, training, or equivalent experience preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in customer service, project management, or construction site development
