Job summary

Blayze Group, partnering with a respected commercial general contractor in Dallas, seeks an Estimator to support its growing preconstruction and estimating team. The role covers preparing detailed estimates from initial bid through award, performing takeoffs, and soliciting subcontractor pricing while reviewing drawings and specs.

Collaboration with PMs, subs, and architects will be essential as bids mature.

Qualifications

• 2–7 years of estimating or preconstruction experience preferred.
• Commercial general contractor experience is essential.
• Strong exposure to hard bid / competitive bid construction.
• Experience with quantity takeoffs, subcontractor solicitation, bid leveling, and scope analysis.
• Exposure to commercial projects valued at $20M+ is ideal.
• Stable career history and a genuine interest in progressing within estimating.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates for commercial construction projects from initial bid through award.
• Perform quantity takeoffs, scope reviews, bid leveling, and subcontractor comparisons.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
• Identify scope gaps, exclusions, risks, and opportunities during bidding.
• Support and manage competitive hard bid submissions.
• Review drawings, specifications, addenda, and other construction documents.
• Work closely with Preconstruction Managers, Project Managers, subcontractors, architects, and owners.
• Develop greater ownership of bids as experience progresses.

Blayze Group is partnering with a respected commercial general contractor to appoint an Estimator to support its growing preconstruction and estimating team.

The Role

• Prepare detailed estimates for commercial construction projects from initial bid through award
• Perform quantity takeoffs, scope reviews, bid leveling, and subcontractor comparisons
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing
• Identify scope gaps, exclusions, risks, and opportunities during the bidding process

Background Sought

• Around 2 to 7 years of estimating or preconstruction experience preferred
• Commercial general contractor experience is essential
• Strong exposure to hard bid / competitive bid construction
• Experience with quantity takeoffs, subcontractor solicitation, bid leveling, and scope analysis
• Exposure to commercial projects ideally valued at $20M+
• Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and trade scopes
• Stable career history and a genuine interest in progressing within estimating and preconstruction
