Job summary

Stanton Millworks in Cincinnati seeks an Estimator who translates drawings, specifications, and vendor quotes into a clear estimating plan for the project team. You identify gaps early and craft precise scopes of work to support successful bids and execution.

The role requires five years of estimating experience in millwork or construction, proficiency with Excel and estimating software, and the ability to work from the Cincinnati office with local travel.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Five years of estimating experience, preferably in architectural millwork, woodworking, or commercial construction.
• Strong ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, POs, and contracts.
• Solid understanding of woodworking, millwork fabrication, and construction means and methods.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimating-related software tools.
• Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate, detailed estimates from architectural drawings, specs, and contract documents.
• Review project documents to understand scope and identify gaps or conflicts before they become problems.
• Perform material and labor take-offs, including fabrication and installation hours.
• Develop material lists, cost breakdowns, and pricing summaries for bids and proposals.
• Obtain, evaluate, and level vendor and subcontractor quotes.
• Prepare clear, professional written proposals and scopes of work.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and operations staff to align estimates with project requirements, schedule constraints, and general conditions.
• Participate in scope reviews, kickoff meetings, and project handoffs to create alignment before construction begins.
• Track design clarifications, RFIs, change orders, and pricing updates throughout preconstruction.
• Maintain organized estimating files, vendor quotes, recaps, and supporting documentation that project teams can put to work.
• Support procurement planning by identifying material requirements and lead times early.
• Build strong working relationships with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams.
• Participate in jobsite visits, walkthroughs, and meetings as needed to support accurate estimates and alignment with field conditions.
• Incorporate applicable safety requirements and code compliance into estimates and buyout packages while following company and project safety policies.

What You’ll Build

What You Bring

• Five years of estimating experience, preferably in architectural millwork, woodworking, or commercial construction.
• Strong ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, purchase orders, and contracts.
• Solid understanding of woodworking, millwork fabrication, and construction means and methods.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimating-related software tools.
• Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
• Ability to work from the Cincinnati office during the work week as needed.
• Ability to travel locally for jobsite visits, meetings, and project coordination, with occasional overnight travel as needed.
