Job summary

Huseman Group in Cincinnati, OH is seeking a Senior Estimator who can transform plans and data into budgets, estimates, and strategies for commercial construction projects. You’ll identify risks, seek opportunities, and partner with owners, architects, engineers and subs to shape projects from preconstruction onward.

Daily duties include developing budgets and bids, performing takeoffs, reviewing drawings, and presenting clear estimate summaries.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience in detailed quantity takeoffs and developing material and labor costs from drawings and specifications.
• Strong ability to read and interpret construction documents.
• Proficiency with estimating software, digital takeoff tools, and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Develop conceptual budgets, detailed estimates, GMPs, and competitive bids for commercial construction projects.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and review drawings, specifications, and contract documents for complete scope coverage.
• Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and supplier proposals.
• Identify scope gaps, constructability concerns, project risks, and cost-saving opportunities.
• Collaborate with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and internal project teams.
• Present estimate summaries, assumptions, clarifications, and value-engineering recommendations.
• Maintain current cost data, market pricing, and estimating tools.
• Support project handoffs from preconstruction to operations.
• Use Sage Estimating and digital takeoff platforms such as Autodesk Takeoff or On-Screen Takeoff.
• Conduct site visits as needed.

Qualifications

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Previous construction estimating or related experience, including performing detailed quantity takeoffs and developing material and labor costs from construction drawings and specifications.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, subcontractor scopes, and the ability to read and interpret construction documents.
• Proficiency with estimating software, digital takeoff tools, and Microsoft Excel.
• Working knowledge of cost control, project risk, building codes, and regulatory requirements..
• Strong analytical, numerical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage competing deadlines.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally to project sites.
