Job summary

raise consulting is seeking a skilled construction estimator/bid coordinator to support multi-project Pursuits in a fast-paced environment. You will review plans, develop detailed bid packages, and coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors throughout the estimating process.

Your role includes maintaining cost databases, analyzing subcontractor bids, and assisting with budgets, GMP estimates, and value engineering to maximize project value while preserving design intent.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years as a construction estimator or bid coordinator.
  • Experience with healthcare, life sciences, higher education, federal, or other complex commercial projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred.
  • Strong understanding of plans, specifications, scopes of work, and subcontractor procurement.
  • Ability to analyze subcontractor proposals, identify scope gaps, and negotiate pricing.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple pursuits.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with clients, design teams, subcontractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborative and able to work independently within a high-performing preconstruction team.

Job description

  • Review and interpret plans, specifications, scopes, and project documents to develop comprehensive and accurate estimates.
  • Develop detailed bid packages that capture all definable components and scopes of work.
  • Manage multiple project pursuits simultaneously, including large and complex commercial projects.
  • Coordinate directly with owners, architects, engineers, designers, subcontractors, vendors, and internal project teams throughout the estimating process.
  • Manage project information, bid invitations, and subcontractor outreach through estimating and bid management platforms.
  • Maintain and analyze historical project data, cost information, and estimating databases to support accurate pricing and benchmarking.
  • Manage and distribute project information during preconstruction, including addenda, ASIs, pre-bid RFIs, preliminary schedules, contract documents, and other bid-related materials.
  • Communicate regularly with clients and trade partners regarding estimate status, scope clarification, pricing, and critical project issues.
  • Support the Preconstruction Manager in meeting client deliverables, RFP requirements, and project pursuit milestones.
  • Solicit, review, analyze, and level subcontractor and vendor bids to determine the best overall value for the project.
  • Prepare detailed bid comparisons and make recommendations regarding subcontractor selection and procurement.
  • Participate in constructability reviews to identify design conflicts, scope gaps, drawing discrepancies, schedule concerns, and value-engineering opportunities.
  • Assist in developing budgets, conceptual estimates, GMP estimates, and final bid proposals.
  • Support value-engineering efforts by identifying alternative materials, systems, and construction methods that improve project value while maintaining design intent.
  • Assist with project turnover and estimating hand-off to the project management and field teams.
  • Support project startup, subcontractor procurement, and early project planning as needed.
  • Maintain organized and accurate estimating documentation throughout the pursuit and preconstruction process.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes, cost databases, and historical project information.
Qualifications & Experience
  • 3+ years of experience as a construction Estimator or Bid Coordinator.
  • Commercial construction experience with a general contractor is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with healthcare, life sciences, higher education, federal, office, or other complex commercial projects is highly desirable.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of construction plans, specifications, scopes of work, and subcontractor procurement.
  • Ability to accurately analyze subcontractor proposals, identify scope gaps, and negotiate competitive pricing.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple pursuits simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with clients, design teams, subcontractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively to a high-performing preconstruction team.
Software & Technology
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Experience with BuildingConnected or similar bid solicitation and subcontractor outreach platforms.
  • Experience with Destini or comparable construction estimating and budgeting software.
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam for plan review, takeoffs, and document management.
  • Experience with Procore or other construction project management platforms.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Project and construction scheduling principles.
  • Experience with On-Screen Takeoff (OST), Sage/Timberline, or other estimating platforms is a plus.
