Job summary

JE Dunn Construction Company in Austin, TX is seeking an Estimating Manager 1 to prepare complex cost estimates for competitive bids and negotiated proposals, and to develop more economical ways to construct projects.

This role applies JE Dunn processes, coordinates with vendors, subcontractors and project teams, and delivers comprehensive estimates with strong attention to accuracy and timeliness. Some travel may be required to support preconstruction activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years estimating experience; preference for total 5+ years construction experience.
• Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications and to perform quantity surveys.
• Proficiency in construction estimating software and MS Office; strong Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepares complex cost estimates for competitive bids and negotiated proposals.
• Prepares material and other costs summary for quotes from vendors.
• Tracks value creation items from development through inclusion and documents in project documentation.
• Develops and manages scopes of work for all trades, including responsibility matrix and pricing coordination.
• Utilizes knowledge of the project schedule and logistics in project estimates.
• Assists with system analysis of building components and MEP systems; supports project logistics.
• Coordinates bid day summaries, general requirements and procurement presentations.
• Collaborates with operations and field staff to find economical construction methods during preconstruction.
• Provides training and mentorship to others.
