Job Description

Mid State Metals LLC is searching for an Estimating Manager to review construction bid documents, blueprints and specifications in order to prepare detailed estimates and take-offs for miscellaneous metals projects (steel stairs, railings, ladders, etc.).

• Manage all aspects of estimating department.
• Calculate labor, material and equipment costs to develop an estimate and bid proposal.
• Prepare estimate prices on change orders for ongoing projects.
• Obtain quotes from suppliers, subcontractors and specified manufacturers to complete a materials and labor take-off.
• Prepare required bid forms and documents.
• Complete work in a timely manner to meet bid schedules.
• Respond to clients in a timely manner.

Qualifications

College degree with a degree in Engineering, Detailing or 3D Modeling. Previous work experience in estimating, project management or drafting may substitute.

• Minimum of 5 years experience estimating steel projects.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols and construction plans.
• Thorough understanding of steel fabrication and erection methods.
• Previous experience using design/detailing software is .
• Ability to learn a proprietary estimating software.
• Ability to work on multiple projects at a time and manage time efficiently.
