Job summary

PCL Construction's Civil West division in Long Beach, California is seeking an Estimating Student to work with experienced estimators to analyze project opportunities and develop competitive cost estimates. You will contribute to pursuits that strengthen communities, learn BEST Estimating software, and build relationships with subcontractors during May–August.

This role offers exposure to the full estimating process.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Architectural Drafting & Estimating Technology or Construction Management.
• Desire a career in construction project management, field supervision, or estimating.
• Experience with On-Screen Takeoff, Excel, Word, Revit, Acrobat, and related software.
• Strong verbal and written communication with project teams, suppliers and owners.
• Authorized to work in the US; no visa sponsorship.
• 18 years of age or older.
• Available to work in Los Angeles, CA from May to August.
• Pass substance abuse test by a third party.

Responsibilities

• Review and perform quantity survey assignment with lead estimator
• Performs general sub-trade solicitation duties
• Bid document control
• Performs bid day assignments
• Sub-trade bid reviews and recapping
• Visits job sites periodically
• Use of in-house estimating software (BEST Estimating)
• Develops relationships with subcontractors
• Other duties as assigned
