Job summary

Consigli Construction is seeking an Estimating Intern to join the Estimating division and gain hands-on experience in cost estimation and bid support. The role focuses on quantity take-offs, subcontractor coordination, product research, and document management within a dynamic construction environment.

The position requires active student status in Construction Management or Civil Engineering, proficiency with Excel, and familiarity with estimating tools.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in CM, civil engineering, or related field.
• Foundational understanding of construction processes, materials, and terminology.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical docs.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel for cost tracking and analysis.
• Familiarity with estimating tools (e.g., Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff) is a plus.
• Experience organizing bid documentation and cost databases is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with quantity take-offs, unit pricing, and cost comparisons; compile detailed estimates for materials, labor, and project systems.
• Manage subcontractor lists and contacts; research products and suppliers; maintain estimating databases.
• Conduct site visits to collect project data and analyze historical cost data to support bids.
• Prepare and reconcile cost estimates against previous projects and monitor expenditures.
• Coordinate with engineers, architects, subcontractors, and internal teams throughout the estimating process.
• Support bid development by preparing expenditure statements and tender docs; participate in estimate reviews.
• Use cost-monitoring systems to identify risks or variances and contribute to decisions.
