Job summary

Neal Electric in Southern California is seeking an Estimating Coordinator to support the Estimating and Operations Department. The role involves organizing project files, preparing proposals, and coordinating with subcontractors and vendors.

You will use BidTracer, Accubid, Bluebeam and Procore to develop estimates, prequalifications, and bid packages, while maintaining schedules and ensuring accurate data entry in a fast-paced, team-focused environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • At least 2 years of estimating or office administrative experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of construction industry procedures is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide estimating support for multiple projects.
  • Set up new projects and organize project files using BidTracer and Accubid.
  • Organize bid documents and assist with proposals and bid forms.
  • Complete prequalification questionnaires for owners and contractors as directed.
  • Assist in updating and issuing departmental tracking, scheduling and reporting.
  • Create meeting binders and organize files for inter-department hand-offs.
  • Utilize wide format printer to plot, scan and print plans.
  • Assist with entry-level quantity take-offs of electrical drawings for estimating purposes.
  • Identify upcoming bidding opportunities and request quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Communicate with general contractors, clients, vendors and subcontractors to maintain relationships.
  • Collaborate to identify process improvements and implement best practices.

Estimating Coordinator:

Neal Electric is currently searching for an Estimating Coordinator to provide support to the Estimating and Operations Department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Provide estimating support for numerous projects.
  • Set up new projects and organize project files using various software programs such as BidTracer and Accubid.
  • Organizebid documents and assist with the completion and submission of proposals and bid forms.
  • Complete elaborate and time-sensitive prequalification questionnaires, to be submitted to owners and contractors as directed.
  • Assist in the updating and issuance of departmental tracking, scheduling and reporting requirements.
  • Create meeting binders and organize files for inter-departmental project hand-offs.
  • Utilize wide format printer & scanner to plot, scan and print plans.
  • Assists withentry levelquantity take-offs of electrical drawings for estimating purposes.
  • Identify upcoming projects for bidding opportunities.
  • Requestand receivequotesworking directlywith subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Communicate, build and maintain strong relationships with general contractors, clients, vendors and subcontractors.
  • Collaborate with the department team to identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices.
  • Perform additional assignments as directed by direct Supervisor.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • General knowledge of the various disciplines and procedures utilized by the Construction industry is preferred with at least2years’ experience in estimatingor office administrative work
LICENSE:

Possess a valid class C California driver's license

SKILLS, PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint,Bluebeam,Procore,Excel and knowledge of spreadsheet applications.
  • Ability to accurately enter data and perform mathematical calculations.
  • Able to adjust priorities on short notice, manage interruptions and work well under pressure.
  • Ability to timely meet deadlines and coordinate workloads with Supervisor.
  • Effective communication, grammar, letter writing, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Construction industry experience a plus
  • Interacts professionally with all company employees and outside persons, such as customers, vendors and professional service providers.
  • Ability to stay focused and work without close supervision.
  • Works well in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination are necessary.
  • Mental alertness and good memory is necessary to ensure accurate and thorough completion of work activities.
  • Ability to interpret and disseminate complex information appropriate and effectively.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods and efficiently operate computer, calculator, copier, fax and other business office equipment.
  • Working conditions consist of a temperature-controlled office; noise level in work environment is usually low.

Working conditions consist of temperature-controlled buildings or offices, outside elements such as rain, cold, and heat when working with in open environments, driving from various locations or attending meetings, etc. Noise levels are moderate to loud depending on work location.
