Job summary

Fair Lane Estate, home of Clara and Henry Ford, seeks a Director of Facilities & Security to lead all building systems, maintenance, custodial, security, and IT. The role collaborates with executive leadership to align operations with preservation standards and public programming while driving cost efficiency.

The position requires hands-on management of complex mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems across historic structures and an on-site work model with limited remote flexibility.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of professional facilities management experience.
• 5+ years of progressive leadership experience.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical, electrical, plumbing and security systems.
• Ability to develop and manage budgets and work with cross‑department leadership.

Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance, custodial, security, IT, and capital improvement plans.
• Develop and manage budgets for Maintenance, Facilities, Security, and IT.
• Oversee vendor relationships and contract negotiations across multiple trades.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA and safety standards across the estate.
• Lead, coach, and develop direct reports and collaborate with senior leadership.
