Job summary

Rivers at Grosse Pointe Woods is currently seeking a Maintenance Director / Facility Engineer to lead the maintenance team and oversee the facility's systems and IT infrastructure in a senior care setting.

The role requires hands-on supervision of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and safety programs, plus budget and vendor coordination. You will drive preventive maintenance, ensure regulatory compliance, and partner with leadership to deliver safe, reliable operations for residents and staff.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or trade school training preferred.
• Experience: 3-5 years in maintenance; 1-2 years in a supervisory role; healthcare setting preferred.
• Technical: HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems; read blueprints and manuals.
• Regulatory: OSHA, state and federal healthcare facility requirements.
• Leadership: Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, train, and schedule maintenance staff; ensure timely task completion.
• Oversee building/equipment maintenance including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems; basic repairs.
• Develop preventive maintenance programs to reduce downtime.
• Manage IT infra, internet, routers, computers, and printers coordination.
• Ensure safety/compliance with regulations; maintain documentation and inspections.
• Respond to emergencies; coordinate safety training and drills.
• Budget and inventory management for maintenance dept; identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Coordinate with external vendors/contractors; approve work and timelines.
• Lead and motivate team; oversee renovation/construction projects; ensure quality.
