Job summary

Fair Lane Estate, the Home of Clara & Henry Ford, seeks a Director of Facilities & Security to oversee all building systems, security, IT, and custodial operations. The role leads two direct reports and collaborates with senior leadership to align preservation standards with public programming and revenue goals.

The position is primarily in-person with limited remote work, offering comprehensive benefits and a salary of $85,000 per year.

Qualifications

• At least 7 years of professional facilities management experience.
• At least 5 years of progressive leadership experience managing a team.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and related facilities systems.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage budgets for Maintenance, Facilities, Security, and IT.
• Directly supervise two reports and coordinate with contracted partners and cross‑department colleagues.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and workplace safety standards.
• Lead operations for building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire/safety, security, IT).
• Coordinate with gardens, historic resources, and marketing teams for operational alignment.
• Serve as primary on-call responder for emergencies and on-site safety planning.
