Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Substitute ESOL instructor to deliver engaging, contextualized lessons for adult learners, integrating academic and employment skills in alignment with Massachusetts English Language Proficiency Standards.

The role requires adapting materials for Google Classroom and Zoom, maintaining inclusive classroom environments, and collaborating with the Education and Career Advisor on student goals and progress. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required; Education background preferred
• TESOL, TEFL, TESL certificate preferred
• Eligible to live and work in the US
• Sensitive to socio-economic and ethnic minority issues
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills
• Able to participate in paid Professional Development
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and Zoom
• Comfortable learning and using web-based file storage such as Google Docs and SharePoint
• Bilingual a plus

Responsibilities

• Substitute teach ESOL, Career Advancement, and English for Immigrant Entrepreneurs classes to adults from diverse backgrounds
• Survey and incorporate adult learner goals into student-centered ESOL coursework
• Develop lesson plans and deliver engaging, contextualized lessons integrating academic and employment skills using Massachusetts English Language Proficiency Standards
• Provide a safe and inclusive classroom environment
• Select and adapt materials, educational apps, and web resources for Google Classroom and Zoom
• Present clear content and language objectives for each class
• Incorporate digital literacy skills into coursework
• Collaborate with the Education and Career Advisor on students’ personal, education, and career goals
• Conduct formative and summative assessments
• Collaborate with peers on curriculum review, common planning, and program improvement
• Communicate classroom and student issues to the Program Director
• Maintain accurate attendance records
• Provide student progress reports twice a year
• Attend teacher meetings
• Document weekly lesson plans in Google Drive
