Job summary

Sunnyside Community Services is seeking a Part-time Program Assistant for ESOL to support program implementation and development for English language learners, with annual reach over 450 students. The role emphasizes a whole-person approach, in-person classes, and collaboration with the ESOL program team.

The position supports ESOL operations, outreach, registration, testing, class setup, and student engagement, with data management and audit support as needed.

Qualifications

• Bilingual; able to read, write, and speak at least one additional language (Spanish preferred).
• Bachelor's degree in related field in-progress or completed, plus 1-2 years of related experience.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication.
• Flexibility, patience, resourcefulness, and ability to work independently and creatively.
• Best Plus 3.0 certified highly preferred.
• Knowledge of DYCD NYC Rise, ASISTS, and Salesforce highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in daily operation of ESOL programming including outreach, registration, BEST Plus 3.0 testing, orientation, class setup and field trips, celebrations.
• Assist in registration, intake interviews and pre/post test program participants.
• Ensure classrooms are properly set up with appropriate furniture and instructional materials.
• Provide ongoing support to instructors by troubleshooting classroom needs, sourcing supplies, and coordinating with facilities or IT.
• Communicate with students regarding programming and other service needs in person, via emails, or texts.
• Assist in student recruitment as needed.
• Collect, maintain, and track program data for reports and audits.
• Support Program Director, ESOL with preparation for program audits and reporting.
