Job summary

Wayne County Public Schools is seeking a Tutor to provide academic support to students in groups or one-on-one settings, under the supervision of the Director of Title III, Policy, and World Languages.

The role's responsibilities include maintaining confidentiality, building rapport with students, and fostering their study skills and confidence. Employment runs for ten months as an at-will, non-exempt position with tiered hourly pay for certified vs. non-certified staff.

Qualifications

• Two Year Degree or 48 semester hours preferred.
• Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing.
• Capacity to motivate and guide students in learning.

Responsibilities

• Follow all school rules, policies and procedures.
• Provide academic assistance to tutees individually or in groups.
• Help students develop positive attitudes toward learning.
• Help students build self-confidence and reduce fear of failure.
• Develop study skills essential for academic success.
• Establish rapport with students and serve as a role model.
• Maintain confidentiality in all matters.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.
