Job summary

Richmond Community College seeks an instructor to teach English as a Second Language to adult learners at Richmond/Scotland Correctional Institution. You will report to the College and Career Readiness Coordinator and the Dean of Adult Education, coordinating class schedules and enrollment requirements.

Responsibilities include developing contextualized ESL lessons, assessing learners, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with college and NCDAC policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in Mathematics, English, Social Studies or related field.
• Prior teaching experience in Adult Education or ESL with immured groups preferred.
• Bilingual applicants preferred.
• Must possess or obtain NCCCS CORE Certification or its equivalent within 2 years of employment.

Responsibilities

• Instruct ESL at a correctional facility with contextualized language instruction.
• Assess learners' needs, set goals, and plan instructional activities.
• Develop lesson plans for group instruction from student assessments.
• Evaluate progress, record grades, and adjust plans as needed.
• Maintain records including attendance, enrollment, and audits.
• Adhere to policies and report to college and facility staff.
