Job summary

Marion Independent School District seeks an Instructional Support/Paraprofessional to assist certified staff in supporting English Language Learners (ELLs). You will reinforce classroom lessons, help build language and reading skills, and translate instructions under a certified teacher’s direction.

You will work with students in small groups or one-on-one to promote language proficiency and mastery of core subjects, while maintaining confidentiality and collaborating with school staff.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Successful completion of college coursework or passing the No Child Left Behind Act exam is recommended.
• Prior experience working with ELL children is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Guide small groups or individual students through adapted lesson plans and assignments.
• Clarify instructions, use visual aids, and provide translation or interpretation support.
• Track student progress, administer language assessments, and help manage documentation files.
• Prepare adapted worksheets, visual supports, and classroom resources.
• Assist guidance, pupil services staff or building administration as needed.
