Job summary

IDEA Public Schools in Florida seeks an English Language Learner paraprofessional to support scholars who are learning English and operating with limited English proficiency. This role focuses on accommodations and collaboration with teachers to help students access instruction and participate fully in class.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalency required; Associate degree or 30 college hours preferred.
• Experience: Working with children with cognitive and/or pervasive developmental disabilities strongly preferred.
• Bilingual candidates or candidates with experience in dual-language settings preferred.
• Willingness to pursue or be enrolled in a Special Education Paraprofessional Certification is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the educational and social development of students under supervision of teachers.
• Support implementation of individualized communication assistance (ESOL/ELL) and translation services.
• Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable full participation.
• Collaborate with speech therapists, social workers, and occupational/physical therapists as needed.
• Assist with interpreting school program needs and information to parents in the home language.
• Help maintain student records and support teachers with routine tasks.
• Support students with emotional or behavior concerns and help develop social skills.
• Assist with daily school activities such as note-taking, reading comprehension, and grade tracking.
