Job summary

Baystate Academy Charter Public School in Springfield, MA is seeking an ESL Coordinator & Teacher to lead ESL services and deliver direct instruction for English language learners. This role combines program coordination with hands-on teaching to meet language goals in grades 6–12.

You will collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families, develop ILPs, and coordinate assessments while delivering engaging, standards-based ESL lessons and targeted support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in TESOL/ESL or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• Teaching certification or licensure in ESL/TESOL.
• At least 2 years of experience teaching ESL.
• Knowledge of ESL instructional strategies and best practices.
• Experience in developing and implementing IEPs.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, parents, teachers, and administrators.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate ESL services and teach ESL classes.
• Identify students in need of ESL services and develop individualized learning plans.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to implement IEPs and ESL strategies.
• Deliver standards-based ESL instruction aligned with language development goals.
• Coordinate statewide ESL assessments and testing.
• Provide differentiated instruction including small groups and tutoring.
• Monitor progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed.
• Engage families through workshops and home-school resources.
• Stay updated on ESL best practices through professional development.
