Job summary

Rosalyn Yalow Charter School in New York seeks an experienced English as a Second Language (ESL/ENL) Coordinator to organize nonnative speaker courses with diverse activities and methods. The coordinator will oversee a cohort of ENL teachers and implement lesson plans aligned with the CKLA curriculum while actively teaching students.

You will lead testing and assessments, report outcomes to the Yalow board, and communicate with families and colleagues about student progress.

Qualifications

Dual ESL/ENL certification, bilingual extension, or TESOL preferred.
Ability to develop lesson plans aligned with NYS Common Core Standards.
Identify students’ challenges and implement remediation plans.
Willingness to accept feedback from school leaders and colleagues.
Passion for working with K-8 students; urban education experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Testing administration under the supervision of the principal.
Assessment reports for Yalow board meetings.
Presentation at monthly board meetings, as requested.
Addressing learning needs of all ENL students.
Continuous communication with students, families, and colleagues about student outcomes.
Implementation of ENL curricula in alignment with CKLA curriculum.
Teaching a cohort of ENL students (roughly 90% of time allotted to teaching).
Supervision and support of a small cohort of ENL teachers.
