Rosalyn Yalow Charter School in New York seeks an experienced English as a Second Language (ESL/ENL) Coordinator to organize nonnative speaker courses with diverse activities and methods. The coordinator will oversee a cohort of ENL teachers and implement lesson plans aligned with the CKLA curriculum while actively teaching students.
You will lead testing and assessments, report outcomes to the Yalow board, and communicate with families and colleagues about student progress.

Yalow’s diverse population comes from not only all over the Bronx but also all over the world. September 2025 brought us 411 STUDENTS.
Our student makeup includes 49% HISPANIC STUDENTS and 48% AFRICAN OR AFRICAN AMERICAN STUDENTS. 55% of our students come from households that speak languages other than English. 37% speak Spanish; other dominant languages spoken include Soninke, Fulani, and French. These languages are spoken by less than 1%: Arabic, Bambari, Bengali, Creole, Hausa, Mandinka, Russian, Twi, and Wolof.
Overall, 96% OF OUR K-7 STUDENTS come from low-income, high-needs neighborhoods in the South Bronx; 22% are classified as homeless; 17% are students with disabilities (SWD); and 25% are English language learners (ELL); and 15% FELLs.
Baseline assessments for entering kindergarten students reveal they are as much as 2 years behind national norms for reading and math. We are closing this achievement gap:
Yalow students handily beat both CSD7 & CSD9 on the 2023 NYS ELA and math tests in most student subgroups, matching scores for NYC. Yalow is committed to providing a quality educational experience, one that will inspire our students to reach for their goals.
