Job summary

The School District of Lee County in Fort Myers, Florida is seeking an ESE Teacher to support students with Emotional/Behavioral Disorders. This full-time role requires a Florida teaching certificate and a bachelor’s degree.

The incumbent will develop individualized programs, monitor progress, and collaborate with staff and families to promote student success. Responsibilities include planning instruction, maintaining records, applying appropriate behavioral strategies, and ensuring compliance

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Florida teaching certificate covering appropriate area of responsibility.
• Master’s degree from an accredited institution. (preferred)
• Experience managing business/department functions and staff. (preferred)
• Relevant work experience or education may be substituted to satisfy minimum qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Plan study programs meeting student needs, interests, and abilities.
• Assist in establishing curriculum objectives and evaluation plans.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning for diverse students.
• Set clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
• Use appropriate instructional methods and materials to meet objectives.
• Assess student progress and provide reports as required.
• Diagnose learning strengths/ weaknesses and consult District specialists when needed.
• Counsel with colleagues, students, and parents regularly.
• Enforce policies governing student life and classroom rules fairly.
• Plan and supervise assignments for support staff and volunteers.
• Use technology in teaching and learning processes.
• Maintain accurate records and reports as required by policy and law.
• Adhere to ethics and district policies; engage in school improvement activities.
• Recognize indicators of student distress or abuse and act appropriately.
• Establish testing environments and ensure test security.
