What We Do

Responsible for handling real estate transactions by establishing new escrow accounts, managing funds, processing documents for closings, and completing settlements according to established policies and procedures. Acts as a neutral liaison between file parties, adheres to company policy, and monitors and mitigates risk. This role is based in our Fort Worth branch.

Job Description

HOW YOU'LL CONTRIBUTE

  1. Complete real estate escrow transactions by determining requirements, clearing titles, assembling, preparing, and reviewing closing documents, and disbursing funds.
  2. Determine closing requirements by studying and clarifying buyer, seller, and lender instructions.
  3. Order title reports for issuing title insurance, resolving title defects, and satisfying existing liens and encumbrances against property or principals.
  4. Establish escrow account by depositing funds and maintaining records.
  5. Prepare transaction documents by completing forms and statements, and reviewing existing documents.
  6. Complete calculations by prorating taxes and interest.
  7. Complete closing transaction documents by assembling documents, reviewing papers with parties, explaining provisions and procedures, answering questions, checking documents for completeness and accuracy, and obtaining signatures.
  8. Close escrow by recording and filing documents, and preparing and distributing final closing statements and titles.
  9. Prepare settlement statement using lender instructions.
  10. Close escrow account by balancing and disbursing funds.
  11. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  12. Update job knowledge through educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining networks, and participating in professional organizations.
  13. Other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

Required Education, Experience, and Certification/Licensure:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 2-4 years related experience
  • Experience handling escrow transactions as an escrow assistant is preferable
  • Valid licensing/certification as required by the applicable state

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs)

  • Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the escrow/title industry
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Good client relations and organizational skills
  • Ability to write reports and correspondence
  • Effective communication skills for speaking before groups of customers or employees
  • Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages
  • Detail-oriented and professional; able to handle confidential information
  • Ability to interact with various roles including real estate sellers, buyers, agents, and brokers
