Basically, an Escrow Officer is an Administrative Assistant in the Real Estate industry whose main purpose is to assist a Senior Escrow Officer with the daily activities and tasks required to get the transaction to the closing table. The escrow team (comprised of a Senior Escrow Officer and an Escrow Officer) works with buyers and sellers to ensure that all parts of a real estate transaction are completed prior to closing. They verify ownership, check for encumbrances, and ensure legal or contractual obligations are disclosed to the buyer.
The escrow team guides the process from the initial "taking of the order" to the point where the property is "cleared to close." While the Senior Escrow Officer oversees the entire process, the Escrow Officer ensures no steps are missed and is capable of stepping in when needed.
Previous experience as an Escrow Officer or Escrow Assistant is preferred, but experience in finance roles related to real estate lending, such as Loan Officers or Loan Processors, can also be suitable. The role requires attention to detail, teamwork, proactivity, excellent communication skills, and the ability to learn new software systems like Qualia. Managing stress effectively is crucial, as clients and stakeholders can be demanding. We work hard but also enjoy team activities like "Almost-virgin margarita Fridays".
