Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; some positions may prefer an associate’s or bachelor’s degree.
• 1–2 years of escrow, title, mortgage, banking, or related real estate experience is usually preferred.
• Familiarity with real estate documents (purchase agreements, deeds, loan documents, title commitments).
• Attention to detail – accuracy is crucial when preparing escrow instructions, reviewing documents, or balancing files.
• Organizational skills – ability to manage multiple files and deadlines simultaneously.
• Customer service – strong communication skills to interact with buyers, sellers, agents, lenders, and other parties.
• Problem-solving – resolving discrepancies in documents, title issues, or closing conditions.
• Computer proficiency; Math/financial accuracy – ability to calculate balances, prorations, and verify figures.

Responsibilities

• Assist escrow officer with opening, processing, and closing escrow files.
• Order title commitments, loan payoffs, and other necessary documents.
• Review and prepare escrow instructions, amendments, and settlement statements.
• Communicate with clients, lenders, agents, and internal staff regarding status and required items.
• Manage incoming funds and disbursements per escrow instructions.
• Maintain compliance with state and company regulations.
