Job summary

Bechtel offers a U.S. Summer Internship Program that provides hands-on experience within Environmental, Safety, and Health (ES&H) disciplines.

You will join safety professionals on projects across Bechtel's GBUs, contributing to risk assessments, inspections, training, and ES&H planning. The internship runs for 10 weeks, typically mid-June to mid-August, with opportunities to learn and network in real project settings.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a BS or MS in Occupational Safety or Safety Management.
• Ability to research and comprehend organizational and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including technical writing abilities.
• Technical knowledge and experience related to occupational health and safety.
• Computer skills for preparing presentations, data management, and report preparation.
• Analytical skills related to sampling, monitoring, and recordkeeping.

Responsibilities

• Assists in integrating safety and health requirements.
• Interprets requirements and provides technical assistance to other project groups regarding risk assessment, plan preparation, and ES&H program execution.
• Identifies regulatory requirements and prepares documentation and reports.
• Provides technical guidance for safety studies, risk and hazard assessments, and other safety and health reviews.
• Assists in the development and implementation of the project Safety and Health Management Plan, associated plans and procedures, and training program.
• Helps develop and implement safety and health communication and awareness measures involving training presentations, flyers, posters, signage, and other communication and training media.
• Participates in emergency response and aids the investigation and resolution of safety-related incidents.
• Provides safety input to other project groups, so that ES&H requirements are integrated within project planning, design, construction plans, procurement, and subcontracts.
• Participates in meetings, as required, with customers, project team members, and contractors/subcontractors to advise them of safety and health requirements.
• Conducts inspections and monitoring to help evaluate ES&H performance, identify corrective actions, and confirm compliance with contract, regulatory, project, and Bechtel requirements.
• Assists in tracking ES&H performance and trends and preparing reports.
