Job summary

Interactive Resources - iR is seeking an ERP Modernization Architect to help evolve a legacy IBM i (AS/400) ERP environment. This role maximizes the existing system's value while introducing modern technologies and automation strategies.

You will work closely with an RPG development team to design solutions and lead UI modernization efforts, contributing directly to architecture and strategy. Strong programming experience and familiarity with B2B integrations required.

Qualifications

We are seeking a hands‑on ERP Modernization Architect to help evolve and extend a legacy IBM i (AS/400) ERP environment. This role focuses on maximizing the value of an existing system of record—enhancing native capabilities where possible and designing modern solutions to address gaps.

You will work closely with an experienced RPG development team while introducing modern technologies, integration patterns, and automation strategies. This is a highly impactful individual contributor role with strong visibility to IT leadership.

What You’ll Do

• Partner with ERP development teams to identify, prioritize, and shape native system enhancements aligned to business needs
• Design and deliver solutions outside the ERP when native functionality falls short (e.g., integrations, overlays, automation workflows)
• Lead architecture for UI modernization efforts, including evaluating and guiding framework decisions
• Build and implement overlay solutions using modern languages (Python, Node.js, Java, C#, etc.), APIs, and database procedures
• Evaluate and implement AI‑driven automation to streamline manual business processes
• Architect and develop ERP‑to‑ERP and B2B integrations, including APIs, EDI, and data exchange frameworks
• Define and maintain integration architecture standards (data flows, security, monitoring, error handling)
• Review technical designs to ensure alignment with long‑term modernization strategy
• Introduce and support modern development tools and practices (Git, VS Code, AI‑assisted development)
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand needs and deliver effective technical solutions
• Document architecture, integration patterns, and technical decisions

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Strong experience building integration or overlay solutions using modern programming languages
• Proven expertise designing and implementing RESTful APIs and system integrations
• Experience with B2B integrations (EDI, API‑based connectivity, or iPaaS platforms)
• Background working with or alongside legacy ERP platforms
• Familiarity with IBM i (AS/400) environments and DB2 databases
• Experience with UI modernization frameworks or similar technologies is preferred
• Exposure to AI‑assisted development tools and automation use cases
• Experience working in regulated environments (e.g., SOX) is a plus

Technical Skills
