Job summary

Metals USA Flat Rolled Group in Northbrook, IL, is seeking an Accounting Clerk to support inventory costing, costing variances, and billing processes within a busy office.

The role requires attention to detail, strong numerical skills, and experience with ERP systems and Excel. Candidates should be able to manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment and communicate effectively with internal and external customers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree coursework in Accounting, Finance or Business preferred.
• 1–2 years of related accounting, billing, order entry, inventory receiving, or administrative experience preferred.
• Experience with inventory costing, job costing, manufacturing transactions, or ERP-based cost accounting preferred.
• Order entry experience required.

Responsibilities

• Receives physical inventory and records purchase order receipts accurately and timely in the ERP system.
• Calculates and records inventory costs based on production jobs, material usage, processing activities, labor allocations, overhead allocations, and other applicable manufacturing costs.
• Reviews purchase orders, supplier invoices, receiving records, shipping documents, and other supporting documentation for completeness and accuracy.
• Maintains accurate inventory accounting records and supports periodic inventory valuation and reconciliation activities.
• Reviews and enters sales invoices and prepares invoices for internal and external invoicing systems.
