Transamerica seeks an attorney to support retirement plan recordkeeping and plan administration, providing strategic legal guidance to business partners in a hybrid environment. You will join a team of attorneys delivering compliant, practical solutions for retirement products and services.

The role requires a JD, active U.S. bar, and 2+ years of ERISA experience. Candidates must be prepared for a hybrid schedule with in-office days in Cedar Rapids and other locations.

Qualifications

• JD from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Bar admission in good standing in any U.S. jurisdiction.
• Two or more years of ERISA/retirement plans experience at a sophisticated firm, consulting firm, or in-house.
• Able to communicate clearly, exercise sound judgment, and adapt legal advice to business needs in a fast-paced corporate environment.
• Proficient using MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal support for retirement plan recordkeeping and plan administration products and services.
• Prepare, review, and negotiate contracts and documents (recordkeeping, trust/custodial, TPA and 3(16), investment management arrangements).
• Develop expertise to advise on plan documents, notices, disclosures (ERISA 408(b)(2), 404(a)(5)); DOL/IRS/PBGC responses.
• Monitor regulatory developments and brief stakeholders on potential business impacts.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and implement policies and procedures.
• Deliver practical, business-oriented solutions in a fast-paced environment.
• Communicate with senior management on pertinent developments.
