Job summary

MedVet is a fast-growing Emergency and Specialty provider with practices nationwide. We are seeking a collaborative Emergency Veterinary Assistant to join our clinical team in New Orleans.

The proposed schedule is Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday 12p-10pm, with a fast-paced ER where no two days are the same. You will record rounds, evaluate patients, assist with treatment plans, and provide client education on medications and home care.

Qualifications

• Prior veterinary experience required.
• Emergency experience desired.
• Proficient in drug calculations.
• Flexibility with work hours.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather information as necessary.
• Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize based on assessment.
• Coordinate with care team on treatment plans and nursing care.
• Provide client education on home care, medications and wellness.
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Monitor hospitalized patients and anesthesia procedures.
• Conduct in-house lab tests and prepare samples for outside labs.
