Job summary

MedVet in Lexington, KY is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Technician to join our fast-growing emergency team. You will be moving between cases, prioritizing patient needs, and collaborating with the care team to implement treatment plans and provide excellent client communication.

The role requires a RVT license or state certification and prior emergency experience. We offer comprehensive benefits and opportunities for continuing education, with a focus on teamwork, leadership, and compassion

Qualifications

State-registered veterinary technician license preferred.
Prior veterinary experience required; emergency experience desired.
Proficient in drug calculations, CRIs, unit conversions, and related math.

Responsibilities

Record and deliver organized rounds; discuss cases and gather information.
Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize based on assessment.
Partner with the patient care team on treatment plans, client communication, and nursing care.
Provide client education on home care, medications, and hospitalized patient wellness.
Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside labs.
