Job summary

Gulf Coast Veterinary Emergency Hospital in Biloxi, MS is seeking a dedicated veterinary professional to join our urgent care team. You will assist in triage, lab work, anesthesia monitoring, radiographs, and patient nursing care in a fast-paced emergency setting.

We have four exam rooms, an on-site blood bank, and a fully stocked pharmacy to support your responsibilities. We value a strong work ethic, reliable arrival, and the ability to communicate treatment plans clearly to clients.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 3-years vet med experience preferred; CVT preferred but not required.
• Previous ER or Urgent Care experience is highly preferred but not required for more experienced applicants.
• A high work ethic and positive attitude team member.
• Ability to arrive on-time and ready to work.
• Some weekend shift availability is required.
• Exceptional customer service and precise communication of treatment plans.
• Interpret medical records and client history accurately.
• Knowledge in preventative care, surgical procedures, and hospital flow.
• Ability to restrain pets in a low-stress and safe manner.
• Proficient in sample collection including blood, urine, fecal, and skin.
• Proficient in setting up and processing laboratory samples and tests.
• Proficient in radiographs and dental radiographs are a plus.
• Proficient in anesthesia and surgical monitoring.
• Self-starter with desire to continue to advance knowledge and skills.
• Ability to receive constructive feedback to maintain hospital efficiency

Responsibilities

• Triage incoming patients, restrain animals, and collect lab samples for analysis.
• Perform lab sample collection and results interpretation.
• Assist with diagnostic imaging, anesthesia monitoring, and surgical prep.
• Communicate treatment plans to clients and monitor hospitalized cases.

Job description

Here at Gulf Coast Veterinary Emergency Hospital, our team is led by dedicated veterinarians with decades of experience in animal health. Our state-of-the-art facility is furnished with the latest technology and equipment to care for everything from minor to severe emergencies. We have four exam rooms, an on-site blood bank, and a fully stocked pharmacy to evaluate and deliver emergency treatment. Our surgical suite is equipped with continuous critical care monitoring to observe every case with which we are faced. We have in-house radiology, lab analysis, and ultrasound. No matter how big or small the patient and their needs are, we continuously strive to set and deliver a high standard of compassionate care!

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Animal restraint, triage of incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.
