Job summary

Animal Emergency Hospital in Burton, MI is seeking an Experienced Veterinary Assistant for our ER team. Starting pay is $20 per hour with a shift differential up to $5 more per hour for late nights. AAHA accredited facility with a focus on patient care and teamwork.

You will place IV catheters, assist with diagnostics, monitor hospitalized patients, and support veterinarians and technicians during procedures in a high-stress environment. Overnight shift rotation is possible.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years as a Veterinary Assistant (emergency or specialty experience preferred).
• Confidence in IV catheter placement and jugular blood draws.
• Strong patient handling and restraint skills.
• Ability to stay calm, focused, and compassionate in high-stress situations.
• Ability to participate in an overnight shift rotation.

Responsibilities

• Confidently place IV catheters
• Draw blood and assist with diagnostics
• Provide hands-on care and monitoring for hospitalized and critical patients
• Assist veterinarians and Licensed Veterinary Technicians during treatments and procedures
• Support patient comfort, safety, and recovery in a fast-paced setting
• Help maintain an efficient, organized treatment area
