Job summary

Ethos Veterinary Health is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our Urgent Care/Emergency Department in Midlothian, VA. The role focuses on patient care, client service, and hospital cleanliness, with opportunities to grow through training and hands-on experience.

Shifts include day, mid, or overnight with a $3/hr differential for overnight. Compensation ranges $17-20/hr, plus scrub allowance and benefits; PTO, insurance, and pet discounts are provided.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 year of veterinary experience preferred.
• Excellent communication skills (in person and over phones).
• Strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
• Ability to multitask and work under pressure.
• Must be flexible and able to adapt to new situations.
• Ability to act as a team player by engaging in teaching and learning from others.
• Maintain a constant level of honesty and integrity.
• Ability to lift, push, and pull above 50lbs and stand for prolonged periods of time.

Responsibilities

• Conduct triages and physical assessments on incoming patients to prioritize care.
• Understand emergencies and appropriate action steps during initial presentation.
• Communicate with clients to obtain medical histories.
• Provide excellent client service and maintain communication with owners.
• Assist licensed technicians with outpatient procedures and treatments.
• Support in initial hospitalization and hourly treatments per hospital protocol.
• Restrain patients for diagnostics and exams.
• Complete Client Service Representative training to assist in front-desk tasks.
• Follow guidance from Licensed Staff (DVMs and LVTs).
