VEG ER for Pets in Oceanside, CA seeks a per diem Emergency Veterinarian who thrives on helping people and their pets during emergencies. Youll handle a range of cases from routine to complex surgeries with mentorship and ongoing education.

You must have a DVM or equivalent, love emergency medicine including surgery and endoscopy, and be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays. The role emphasizes teamwork in a fast-paced environment, compassionate client communication, and delivering

Qualifications

• Must hold a DVM or equivalent degree.
• Experience in emergency medicine and emergency surgery.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis.
• Ability to lift up to 25 kg and assist up to 40 kg.
• Able to work in a noisy environment with strong odors.

Responsibilities

• Answer medical questions over the phone.
• See patients immediately as part of the VEG Triage and VEG Spikes system.
• Gather signalment, presenting complaint, vitals, and exam.
• Perform physical exams and required diagnostics (ultrasound, X-ray, bloodwork).
• Create and review diagnostic/therapeutic plans and communicate options to clients.
• Prepare estimates and present them to clients.
• Conduct emergency surgeries and endoscopic procedures.
• Educate clients on aftercare and prevention.
