Job summary

MedVet is seeking an Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician to join our fast-paced clinical team in Akron, OH. The position requires an active State Registered Veterinary Technician license and previous emergency experience. A strong focus on teamwork, precise calculations, and patient care will help you thrive in our ER environment.

The proposed schedule is Wednesday–Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. with a pay range of $18.75–$35.00 per hour based on experience.

Qualifications

• Must hold State Registered Veterinary Technician license.
• Prior veterinary experience required, emergency experience preferred.
• Strong arithmetic skills for drug calculations, CRIs, unit conversions, etc.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather information as necessary.
• Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize based on assessment.
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns.
• Provide client education including home care instructions, medications and hospital updates.
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house lab testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing.
