Job summary

Cayuga Medical Center is seeking an Emergency Department Technician for full-time, evenings/nights, at Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca, NY. The role supports nurses with direct patient care, vital signs, EKGs, phlebotomy, and safe patient transport in a high-energy ED setting.

Required HS diploma or equivalent; BLS certification to be obtained during intro period; prior patient assessment/care exp. preferred. Onsite shift coverage is 3pm–3am and 7pm–7am, 36 hours weekly.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS certification to be obtained during introductory period.
• Prior patient assessment and care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Communicate clearly and respectfully with patients and teammates; represent Cayuga Medical Center with high service standards.
• Report abnormal findings or changes to the RN, including vital signs and daily activities.
• Obtain and report vital signs as scheduled or PRN.
• Assist patients with personal care and mobility; maintain safety and fall prevention in the department.
• Maintain clean and organized bedside areas to support a healing environment.
• Perform hourly intentional rounding to meet patient needs.
• Perform 12-lead EKGs as ordered; collect and label venous samples with two IDs.
• Safely transport patients to testing or admission and assist with equipment handling.

Education

HS diploma or equivalent experience

BLS certification (will obtain during introductory period)

Prior patient assessment and care experience preferred
