Job summary

Cayuga Medical Center's Emergency Department seeks a Part Time ED Technician for evenings and nights, supporting nurses in patient assessment, testing, and diagnosis in a fast-paced ED. You will assist with personal care, vital signs, and safe patient transport, contributing to high-quality, compassionate care.

Required HS diploma or equivalent, with BLS to be obtained during onboarding. Prior patient care experience is preferred, and onsite work at Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca NY is expected.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent is required (or equivalent experience).
• BLS certification to be obtained during introductory period.
• Prior patient assessment and care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Communicate clearly with patients and teammates; provide exceptional customer service.
• Report abnormal findings or changes in patient condition to the RN.
• Obtain and report vital signs as scheduled or prn.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living and personal care.
• Support safe patient ambulation and fall prevention.
• Maintain a clean and organized bedside area for a safe workspace.
• Respond flexibly to support both patients and teammates.
• Perform 12-lead EKGs as ordered by providers.
• Perform venipuncture and proper labeling of specimens.
• Safely transport patients and manage equipment as needed.
• Observe and monitor patients identified as a safety risk.
• Perform point-of-care testing according to competencies.
• Stock patient rooms and medical equipment carts.
