Job summary

White Plains Hospital Medical Center in White Plains, NY is seeking an ER Technician to partner with nurses and providers to deliver high-quality care in a fast-paced emergency department. Under the supervision of the registered nurse, the ER Technician performs direct and indirect patient care, assists with infection control, vital signs, phlebotomy, monitoring, and supports throughput and safety.

Qualifications

• High School required or GED; 1–3 years of patient care experience.
• Competent in phlebotomy.
• Professional capacity and effective English communication (written and verbal).
• BLS certification required within 6 months of hire or transfer within 180 days.
• ER de-escalation training required within 1 year (New hires/transfers).

Responsibilities

• Vital signs, intake/output monitoring, activities of daily living, simple dressings, setup for ophthalmology and gynecology exams.
• Blood specimen collection for venipuncture and labeling as ordered by the provider.
• Place patient on cardiac monitor and perform 12-lead EKGs within 10 minutes of arrival.
• Maintain infection control practices and participate in performance improvement initiatives.
• Assist with patient transport, supply management, and communication with care team.
